The Stables
The Stables of the Parada Homestead
Casa de Parada is a traditional Galician farmhouse of notable ethnographic value.
The former stables, situated beneath the main living quarters, connect the kitchen garden to the inner courtyard. Spanning an area of 400 m², they follow the original layout of the stone livestock quarters, which housed cattle until 1982. After Uxío Novoneyra took up residence in Santiago de Compostela, these spaces remained closed.
Beginning in 2010, the stables were gradually refurbished for diverse cultural uses. Today, they house exhibition galleries, a tavern-café (cantina), and the Foundation’s shop, where visitors can find our publications. In addition, the former granary (paneira) now holds the foundation’s historical and documentary archive.
QUEN na outa tarde
anduvo a catar o aire
sabe que a sombra é máis
que unha lene escuridade.

O aire ten unha cousa
que se perde se un a conta.
